LegiStorm releases new salary data

LegiStorm has released the latest available staff salary data from the House of Representatives, covering the second quarter of 2009.

The Senate releases its salary data every six months, so there is no new salary data available from the Senate.

LegiStorm provides salary data for the House and Senate going back to October 2000. We remain the only place on the web where this information is available. You can browse or search our salary database, including the most recent data, by starting here.

House to post expense records online

Closing a huge information gap, the House of Representatives expects to put the expense records of all representatives online.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) released a letter she sent to the House's chief administrative officer today, directing that the House's Statement of Disbursements be posted online "at the earliest date." The Statement of Disbursements includes all official expenses for each member, including salaries.

The expense reports have been released as printed volumes, running to thousands of pages covered in small type each quarter. The volumes were available in a basement office of a House office building.

Latest House congressional staff salary data released

LegiStorm has released the latest available congressional staff salary data from the second quarter of 2008 for the House of Representatives.

As usual, the salary data comes from the Statement of Disbursements books published quarterly by the Clerk of the House. The books are typically published three months after the quarter ends and we spend a few weeks converting the books from hard-copy to digital form.

The Senate publishes its salary data in semi-annual, not quarterly, increments. The next Senate data is not scheduled for release for another three months.
