Information
Organization's Own Description:
The Illinois Soybean Association is a statewide organization that serves the needs of Illinois soybean farmers. It is comprised of two different boards:
The Illinois Soybean Program Operating Board (ISPOB) manages and invests soybean checkoff funds.
The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) administers legislation and membership programs.
In 2005, the entities were combined to manage farmers' needs more efficiently. However, the two boards still work in separate and distinct ways toward maximizing the profitability of Illinois soybean farmers. The non-checkoff side, ISA, provides advocacy in Springfield and Washington, D.C., while the checkoff side (ISPOB) funds research, promotion and educational programs that enhance soybean production and use; plans and backs national and international market development efforts; and distributes invaluable industry information.
