Newton Medical Center is a short-term, fully accredited, 146-bed acute care, not-for-profit hospital serving more than 250,000 people in Warren and Sussex counties in New Jersey, Pike County in Pennsylvania and southern Orange County in New York. For the third consecutive year, Newton Medical Center received a VHA Leadership Award in 2008 for exceeding national performance standards in several clinical care areas. Its current licensed capacity is 146 beds. In 2007, approximately 9,000 people were admitted to Newton Medical Center, more than 33,000 people were treated in the Emergency Department and nearly 700 babies were born. According to statistics, Newton Medical Center continues to be one of the most efficient hospitals in the state of New Jersey.
