House ethics panel investigating Rep. Meeks' disclosures

Posted by LegiStorm on Jan. 31, 2011

The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) for failing to report required information on his personal financial disclosure forms, according to the New York Post.

The Post reported that Meeks failed to disclose his wife's modest income from a teaching job at Queens College, as well as a public relations company she founded in 1999. According to the Post, the the U.S. Attorney's Office is also investigating Meeks regarding the finances of a charity Meeks started with a New York state senator.

This isn't the first time Meeks' disclosures have been under scrutiny. Last year, the representative amended several years of disclosures to reveal $55,000 in personal loans that had been undisclosed.
