Sen. Gary Peters hires wildlife, conservation lobbyist

Posted by Jenna Ebersole on April 2, 2015

A lobbyist for the National Wildlife Federation has taken a position as legislative assistant in Sen. Gary Peters' (D-Mich.) office.

Bentley Johnson started as legislative representative for public lands campaigns in 2009 at the wildlife organization and registered to lobby in 2013 and 2014. For Peters, Johnson has been assigned to several issues including the environment, energy, agriculture, Native Americans and transit.

Johnson's wife, Margaret Randolph, is also a familiar face on the Hill and on K Street. She worked for Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and Rep. Dale Kildee (D-Mich.) from 2007 until Kildee's retirement in 2013 and now lobbies for AARP.

As a lobbyist, Johnson advocated on issues ranging from fracking and Keystone XL to wildfire disaster funding and conservation. He has a bachelor's in sociology from the University of Michigan.
