A new district office director for Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) has moved for a fourth time through the revolving door with K Street.
Cassidy hired Mark Zelden as director of the southeast regional offices last month, bringing him back to Congress after a four-year absence. Zelden has registered as a lobbyist since and also lobbied between 2000 and 2010.
Zelden last worked as a congressional staffer for then-Republican Rep. R. Parker Griffith of Alabama, starting shortly after Griffith lost in a 2010 primary and leaving the office when Griffith departed in January 2011. He first worked on the Hill in various positions for Reps. Bob Livingston (R-La.), Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) and Bob Riley (R-Ala.) in the late 1990s.
Zelden has lobbied on a variety of issues over more than a decade and advocated last year for clients including the City of Mobile, Ala., Troy University and Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood Inc. He has worked for several organizations, from C2 Group LLC to Bell Heroux and Zelden LLC and Adams and Reese LLP.
