Daines' daughter completes House fellowship

Posted by Jenna Ebersole on June 5, 2015

When then-Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) departed for the Senate in January, he left a family member behind in the House.

Annie Daines, the senator's daughter, worked from January up until a few weeks ago as a digital media fellow for the House Republican Conference. She came to the Hill with experience as an elementary education teacher for Bozeman, Montana, second graders while a teacher was out for maternity leave early last year.

She has a 2014 bachelor's in elementary education and teaching from Montana State University.

Over the last few months on Twitter, the younger Daines has tweeted about attending the State of the Unionjoining her father for "bring your daughter to work day" and spotting celebrities on the Hill.

"Watching the republicans vs dems was the best part of being able to go to #sotu," she tweeted in January along with a photo.

"When your dad's scheduler emails you a calendar invite to take a pic with dad for "bring your daughter to work day" ... I accepted of course," she wrote in April.

Annie Daines earned nearly $3,500 in the first three months of her fellowship, according to the latest salary release. Typically, but not always, Hill fellowships are unpaid.
