After 12 years, staffer returns to old boss

Nearly 12 years after she left Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) as his communications director, Tami Rae Plofchan has returned to the Hill to serve her former boss as acting legislative director.

Plofchan joined Calvert in 1999 following three and a half years as executive assistant for Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) and remained until late 2004.

After a brief hiatus from the political sphere, Plofchan reappeared as the fundraising director for Buck McKeon for Congress from 2007 through 2012, helping the California Republican win re-elections in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Plofchan then joined the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities as director of government relations and helped lobby Congress for educational reform in 2015.

Calvert's legislative director, Rebecca Keightley, is currently on maternity leave.
