Pharmacy lobbyist back to Rep. Jenkins

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Nov. 16, 2016

After a year lobbying for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Colin Brainard is filling his prescriptions on the Hill again.

Brainard has taken a job as deputy chief of staff for Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.). He previously served as the congresswoman's senior tax- and health- policy adviser and as a a legislative correspondent to Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) before joining the pharmaceutical-advocacy group as director of federal government affairs in 2015.

Last year, Jenkins had introduced the NACDS-supported Restoring Access to Medication Act of 2015, which would have repealed an Affordable Care Act provision that requires a prescription to use health-savings and flexible-spending accounts to pay for over-the-counter medications.
