Caesars Entertainment deals in House aide

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Nov. 22, 2016

Caesars Entertainment Corp. is placing its bets on Brenda Lawrence's (D-Mich.) press secretary.

LeMia Jenkins joined the casino behemoth as a government relations and corporation communications specialist this month. She came to Lawrence's office as press secretary earlier this year before taking a leave of absence to join Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign.

Caesars Entertainment, which owns more than 50 hotels and casinos, has not disclosed any federal lobbying since 2012, when it cut ties with lobbying firm Capitol Counsel. The company brought in $4.5 billion in net revenues last year, according to a company press release.

Jenkins, who holds a master of public health degree from George Washington University, has also worked in the offices of Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio). In 2015, Jenkins was named to The Hill's 50 Most Beautiful People list.
