Telecom industry policy aide joins Rep. Latta's office

Posted by Katie Barrows on Nov. 4, 2013

A government affairs representative for telecom giants has joined the office of Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) to work on telecommunications issues for him.

Olivia Trusty has signed on as a legislative assistant for Latta to cover a policy portfolio that includes arts, education, family, women's issues, welfare and telecommunications issues. Before working on the Hill, Trusty spent time working for Qwest Communications International Inc. and then Verizon Communications Inc. At Qwest, Trusty served as a senior policy representative. Though she never registered as a lobbyist herself for Qwest, Trusty was the point of contact on a number of lobbying filings. In 2010, Trusty joined Verizon as a senior consultant for government relations working on education and health policy.

Trusty attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she made a name for herself as a gymnast.

Latta is currently on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, serving as the vice chair of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee.
