Rep. Sanford's ex-publicist looks for chemistry with industry

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Nov. 18, 2013

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) hired a communications director in June but she lasted only the summer with him. Now she is looking to find chemistry with her new employer, the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates.

Jennifer Drogus took the job this month as SOCMA's senior manager of public relations and media. The trade association, which has represented the industry since 1921, advocates for industry-friendly laws and regulations on behalf of members. This upcoming Wednesday, SOCMA will testify before the International Trade Commission on trade barriers affecting American trade with the European Union.

Before her short stint with Sanford, Drogus was the communications director for Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Ga.) and Rep. John Linder (R-Ga.). She earlier served as a legislative assistant and staff assistant with Linder, working on agriculture, education, science, small business, space, technology and transportation issues for the Georgian representative. The James Madison University graduate began her career as an intern for Rep. John Boehner during his tenure as the House Majority Leader.
