Candice Miller hires new policy adviser from K Street

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Jan. 30, 2014

Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.) has a new senior policy adviser who has been lobbying for the past two years.

Ed Puccerella's return to the Hill comes after a five-year absence. Since 2011, the American University alumnus has been the director of government relations for Artemis Strategies, assisting clients on issues related to tax reform, H-1B visas and funding for hydroelectric projects. Before advocating for K Street, Puccarella served as the director of congressional and external affairs for the Amtrak Office of Inspector General, where he negotiated extra funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

During his last congressional stint, Puccerella served as a budget analyst for the House Budget Committee, under Rep. John Kasich (R-Ohio) and Rep. Jim Nussle (R-Iowa) from 2000-2005. Later on as a professional staff member for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Puccerella authored portions of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 and the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 while working under Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.).

Puccerella began his political career as a regional field coordinator with the Republican National Committee, working specifically with Steve Forbes and Kasich.
