House water aide takes the plunge on K Street

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Feb. 12, 2014

A former Republican water legislation expert on Capitol Hill is getting his feet wet as a first-time registered lobbyist.

Ian Lyle, the new director of federal affairs for Water Strategies LLC, is advocating water-supply issues on the behalf of the Columbia Basin Development League and the National Water Resources Association. Specifically, the CBDL is trying to provide irrigation relief for the Odessa, Wash. area as part of the Columbia Basin Project. Likewise, the NWRA is focused on federal legislation regarding state water law primacy, water supplies and water quality standards that could affect 17 Western states.

Lyle brings the Arlington, Va.-based firm over a decades-worth of Hill experience. Notably, the Fort Lewis College alumnus assisted Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee on national water resources and hydroelectricity policies. He has served Rep. Scott Tipton (R-Colo.), Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) and Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) as well.
