Salary alert

An investigative counsel under Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on the Armed Services Committee recently left for a new job and a potentially higher paycheck with one of D.C.'s biggest law firms according to a newly filed financial disclosure.

Jay Heath moved to McKenna Long and Aldridge in May after about 18 months in the Senate. The disclosure indicates that Heath, as counsel, will earn between $100,001-$250,000 per annum. Yearly Senate staffer salaries top out around $170K. The Harvard and Georgetown Law grad also worked for the House Intelligence Committee following a number of years as an officer in the JAG Corps.
