Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) has a legislative aide who recently returned from the ranks of Icelandic professional soccer.
Sara Jordan played forward for Haukar, a women's team in the Premier Division, the highest level of the sport in Iceland, from 2010 to 2011. She moved to the Nordic country after finishing her master's at Georgetown University, where she earned All-Northeast Region honors in her final season of play and ranked among the top-10 all-time in goals, assists and points. Jordan lived in the small town of Hafnarfjörður, outside the capital of Reykjavik, just following volcanic eruptions that rocked the countryside.
Doggett brought Jordan onto his staff in 2011.
