A former aide to retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) has registered as a first-time lobbyist with one of America's largest health insurers.

Tom Wharton joined Blue Cross Blue Shield Association after a little more than a year with Lieberman as the senator's counsel handling health care issues. Wharton will lobby a variety of areas including health information technology standards, insurance market reform and state-based regulation, according to recent filings.
