A new aide to Rep. Ron Barber (D-Ariz.) returns to the House this month after spending the last four years lobbying for repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

Jeremy Wilson-Simerman became Barber's military legislative assistant following a position as government affairs director with Servicemembers Legal Defense Network. According to SLDN's website, the group is "dedicated to bringing about full LGBT equality to America's military." Now that the military has officially ended its policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", SLDN also assists "those currently serving who may experience harassment or discrimination."

Wilson-Simerman began his career in Washington as a staff assistant and legislative correspondent for Rep. Jim Costa (D-Calif.).
