Revolving door

Revolving door

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) watched a former legislative assistant return to the lobbying firm the staffer used to work for.

Alan Elias became vice president at Mercury/Clark and Weinstock in September. From 2001-2003, Elias worked at the firm under its former name, Clark and Weinstock, as an associate consultant. Johnson brought Elias onto his staff when he was elected in 2011 to handle defense and homeland security issues after Elias spent almost two years under Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on a subcommittee on the homeland security committee.

Elias has already registered once again as a federal lobbyist. He is working on behalf of BAE Systems as it merges with EADS, according to paperwork filed in late September.
