Rep. Gibbs adds a Caps cheerleader to his staff

Posted by LegiStorm on Jan. 27, 2014

An Ohio congressman brings it on by adding a Washington Capitals cheerleader to his staff list.

Danielle Sikes has joined the office as Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) while also performing cheers as a member of the Washington Capitals Red Rockers squad.

She began with the Red Rockers in July and self describes her spirit squad experience as rookie level on her Red Rocker profile. In Gibbs' office she serves as a staff assistant. The California State University, Fullerton graduate worked as an intern in Rep. Diane Black's (R-Tenn.) before being hired on by Gibbs' office.

Capitol Hill already had a number of staffers to cheer about. Allison Ryan, who became a legislative correspondent for Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in December, danced and cheered for the Minnesota Timberwolves' dance team. Mandy Gunasekara from Rep. Bob Latta's (R-Ohio) office and Staci Cox from Rep. Gwen Moore's (D-Wis.) office both were cheerleaders in college for their respective schools.
