LegiStorm: Transparency's Sidekick

WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission (FEC) this week unveiled a new E-Learning Resources web page and YouTube channel. These new initiatives are designed to help the general public understand the federal campaign finance laws and regulations, and assist political committees in complying with the laws, regulations and reporting requirements.

“These two features reflect the Commission’s commitment to using new media to advance our educational outreach,” Chairman Steven T. Walther said.

The Commission’s E-Learning page (www.fec.gov/info/elearning.shtml) and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/FECTube) provide access to a wide variety of instructional videos and interactive presentations on topics such as mastering the new lobbyist bundling disclosure requirements, registration instructions for candidates or committees and limitations and prohibitions on political contributions. They will be updated throughout the year with additional campaign finance-related topics in an effort to help the general public and political committees keep up with new developments in campaign finance laws and regulations.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
