The Speaker announced that the House do now adjourn pursuant to provisions of H. Res. 976. The next meeting is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on December 23, 2009 unless the House has sooner received a message from the Senate stating that that body has agreed to an applicable concurrent resolution of adjournment, in which case the House shall stand adjourned pursuant to such concurrent resolution.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on December 23, 2009, at 9:17 a.m.: The Senate passed H.R. 4284. The Senate agreed to H.Con. Res. 206. The Senate appointed members to the United States-China Interparliamentary Group.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on December 22, 2009, at 9:45 a.m.: That the Senate passed H.R. 2877, H.R. 3072, H.R. 3319, H.R. 3539, H.R. 3667, H.R. 3767, H.R. 3788, and H.R. 1817.

The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on December 19, 2009, at 10:00 a.m.: That the Senate concurred in the amendment of the House to the amendment of the Senate to H.R. 3326; that the Senate passed H.R. 1377, without amendment; and that the Senate agreed to H.Con.Res. 218, and passed H.J.Res. 64, without amendment.

The House received a communication from Wilson Livingood, Sergeant-at-Arms. The Sergeant-at-Arms notified the House that the time previously appointed for the next meeting of the House was going to be 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009. Pursuant to clause 12(c) of rule I, the Sergeant-at-Arms notified the House that an imminent impairment of the place of reconvening at that time is due to the weather.
