An amendment, in the nature of a substitute offered by Mr. Van Hollen, numbered 6 printed in to emphasize job creation, protecting Medicare beneficiaries, and ending additional tax breaks for special interests and the wealthiest Americans by including a number of job-creation initiatives, preserving the Medicare guarantee, and extending tax relief for the middle-class. The amendment also sets discretionary spending at the Budget Control Act levels and using alternative savings to replace that law's future sequesters.
