Official press release from Office of Former Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL)

ICYMI: U.S. Chamber of Commerce - H.R. 1020, the "Low Value Shipment Regulatory Modernization Act of 2013"

March 18, 2013

Washington, Mar 18 - Good morning, I wanted to be sure you saw the letter sent today by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to Congressmen Schock, Crowley, and Owens.

This letter endorses legislation introduced by Congressman Aaron Schock on March 7th, 2013, which modernizes the U.S. Customs Process to help both consumers and small businesses by lowering customs duties rates on low value, low risk imports. Specifically the legislation would reduce importing expenses through fewer formal entry filings, facilitating commerce with small businesses by reducing shipment costs and paperwork. Lowering the duties on certain low value, low risk goods also demonstrates U.S. leadership among other countries, encouraging them to follow suit on a global scale and reduce the costs of business for American exporters.

I wanted to highlight the Chamber’s strong endorsement in their letter, which is pasted below. This is a follow up from the letter the Chamber sent in January after Aaron’s legislation was included in broader customs reauthorization introduced last month.
