LegiStorm has processed and published the latest data and analytics on staff salaries and official expenditures for members, committees, leadership and administrative offices of the House of Representatives, covering the period from October 1 to December 31, 2023. LegiStorm staff extensively clean and edit salary and expenditure records before making the information available online in our searchable salary database and expenditure reporting tools.

This allows subscribers to explore in-depth data and trends in House member expenditures and vendors; salary analysis by position, office and education; and turnover in member offices.

The fourth quarter salary data will be added to our salary analytics and turnover tools shortly.

This week, LegiStorm published longform personal biographies for current members of Congress.

Subscribers can see these in the Biographical section of a member's web page (for example, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' biography can be found here).

The LegiStorm team created these written biographies using members' official and campaign websites, among other sources. Biographies provide up-to-date information on a member's career history, educational background, personal life and more. We'll continue to monitor and update member biographies to reflect relevant changes in each member's life. 

The Secretary of the Senate recently released the salary records for the second half of FY2023 (Apr. 1, 2023, to Sept. 30, 2023)

The LegiStorm team processed the records, extensively cleaning and editing the data to create an accurate salary history for individual staffers. The next Senate salary records are expected in early June 2024.

LegiStorm has published preliminary staff lists for all but three members-elect, already adding 111 staffers for the incoming freshman class's 80 members.

LegiStorm has added this data considerably sooner than in years past. In coordination with incoming members and their teams, we'll continue to add new names daily as offices hire and fill out their staff rosters for the 118th Congress.

In addition to seeing recent updates on the LegiStorm site, LegiStorm subscribers can get custom email notifications of staff updates by setting contact list Lightning Alerts. Use the Advanced Staff Search to create a custom contact list -- based on offices, roles, issues covered, geography, or a combination of factors. If you choose the Set a Lightning Alert option on the list's management page, we'll update your custom list each night and send you an email when people are added, removed or modified (i.e., staff who change positions).

Today, LegiStorm published the second quarter (April 1 to June 30) House of Representatives salary and expense records. As always our team has extensively cleaned and processed the official data released by the Clerk of the House to make sure we provide the most useful and accurate information. These latest salary and expense records (including the original PDF pages) are now available for browsing on member, office or staffer profiles. 

As always, this data is available in a variety of tools for our Pro-Lite, Pro and Pro Premium subscribers, including our Official Expenses search comparing different members' budgets and spending, our Expenses full-text search and our Top Vendors list and search.

The official Congressional Record search is based on the full list of members who spoke at any time in a section - so search results for "Nancy Pelosi" and "infrastructure" might include numerous items where she made procedural statements without saying anything about the subject at hand.

The LegiStorm Congressional Record search takes a more useful approach - for all substantive member remarks, we match one specific member to the exact paragraphs during which they are speaking. In our search, results for "Nancy Pelosi" and "infrastructure" will only include items where she specifically has something to say on the issue.

LegiStorm Lightning Alerts - custom notifications about updates important to you - are available as part of our Congressional Record search. Subscribers can create Lightning Alerts to get instant email notifications based on comments made by a particular list of members (Democrats, Republicans, members from California or New York, a hand-selected list, etc.) about the issues they care about most. Both the Congressional Record search and Lightning Alerts are available only to Pro Premium subscribers.

Today LegiStorm updated our Privately Funded Congressional Travel Search to add a custom member list search filter. The travel disclosure database lets subscribers see which members and staffers have accepted free travel, including the details of when, where, why, how much it cost and what private organization paid for it all.

This is the latest expansion of our custom member list functionality, which provides powerful targeted search capabilities and Lightning Alert notifications throughout the LegiStorm site, including the Advanced Staff Search, StormFeed press releases and tweets, Town Halls and many other data sets. Subscribers can easily create and save lists of current senators and representatives based on geography, education, committee or caucus membership, political party, or any combination of these criteria.
