Tech lobbyist joins Schatz's staff

Posted by Jenna Ebersole on Jan. 13, 2015

A new policy adviser in the office of Hawaii Democrat Sen. Brian Schatz spent more than a decade - and most of her career - as a lobbyist for several tech companies.

Melika Carroll joined Intel Corp. in 1998 as European government affairs manager after completing her master's degree at the College of Europe. She registered to lobby for Intel beginning in 2002, rising to director of international trade policy, before moving to do government affairs work at Micron Technology Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co.

Carroll comes to Schatz's office after a stint at Salesforce.com, where she was also a registered lobbyist. At Salesforce, Carroll most recently registered to lobby on cross-border data flow, cybersecurity and patent reform.

The new staffer has also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.
