Top Inhofe staffer takes advocacy job with former lobbying client

Posted by Jenna Ebersole on July 20, 2015

Sen. Jim Inhofe's (R-Okla.) number two staffer has stepped through the revolving door once again to work for a government contractor that was once his lobbying client.

John Bonsell has served two separate stints for Inhofe, leaving once before for the advocacy world when he worked from 2007-11 for Robison International Inc. There, he registered to lobby for a range of clients, including Science Applications International Corp. This month, he switched to SAIC to serve as vice president of government affairs.

Bonsell has an extensive background in military policy. He started his first job as military legislative assistant in Inhofe's office in 2001 after serving as a U.S. Army colonel and left in 2007 for lobbying.

Bonsell came back to the Hill - and Inhofe's office - in 2012 as legislative director and continued for a year before becoming Republican staff director on the Senate Armed Services Committee. His latest position with Inhofe was as deputy chief of staff.
