Former McMorris Rodgers aide makes new life with Biotech advocacy firm

Posted by Steve Shapiro on Oct. 5, 2015

A former aide to Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) has left the office for a job with a little more chemistry.

Nick Magallanes starts his new role as director at the Biotechnology Industry Organization this month, ending a two-year stint as a health policy adviser to McMorris Rodgers and the House Republican Conference.

Magallanes started his congressional career as a correspondence manager and legislative aide with Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) in 2010. In 2012, he moved to the House to join Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) as a legislative assistant. He further served under Terry on the Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Magallanes has a strong background in health issues. In addition to receiving a master's degree in health and medical public policy, Magallanes also worked as a health researcher for two private firms before joining McMorris Rodgers.
