Kucinich will lobby for wife's former employer

Posted by J. Todd Foster on April 21, 2016

Two-time Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, a former eight-term congressman from Ohio, has filed his first lobbying papers and will advocate for the Center for Food Safety, his wife's former employer.

For $10,000, Kucinich will lobby the U.S. Senate on the issue of genetically modified food labeling.

His third wife, Elizabeth, 38, is a British organic food and vegan advocate who produced two documentaries on the topics. From May 2013 to February 2015, she was director of policy at the Center for Food Safety.

The center is based in Washington and is a national nonprofit public interest and environmental advocacy organization with offices in San Francisco, Portland, Ore., and Honolulu.

The 70-year-old Dennis Kucinich ran unsuccessfully for president in 2004 and 2008 and was the only Democratic candidate in that latter race to have voted against invading Iraq.
