Lofgren scheduler a blast from the past

Posted by Nate Hoffman on May 19, 2016

A senior House Democrat has turned to the past to handle her future scheduling needs.

Monica Swintz has returned to Rep. Zoe Lofgren's (D-Calif.) staff after leaving the Californian's office four years earlier. Since then, the South Bend, Ind. native has worked in a similar capacity with Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), worked for the nonpartisan nonprofit No Labels and most recently was a registered lobbyist for the American Optometric Association. She most recently advocated for appropriation issues for the St. Louis-based trade association as its federal affairs manager and grassroots strategist.

The Ball State University alumna worked primarily on the campaign trail for national Democrats before her first stint with Lofgren. She has worked on the campaigns for Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Hillary Clinton, former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.), former Sen. Evan Bayh (Ind.) and former Sen. Tim Johnson (S.D.). She also was a district aide for Bayh after being a fellow for Fannie Mae and an intern for the Democratic Caucus in the Indiana House of Representatives.
