Family Research Council lobbyist returns to Rep. Lamborn

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on April 25, 2017

After a year lobbying for the conservative Family Research Council, a former scheduler has returned to Rep. Doug Lamborn's (R-Colo.), this time as a legislative assistant.

Jamie Dangers spent 2015 and 2016 as a legislative assistant at the group that is popular with some Christian traditionalists because of its view that homosexuality is "unnatural" and "can never be affirmed." That same view has attracted the attention of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which designates the Family Research Council as a "hate group."

Dangers lobbied on issues including sexual orientation and gender identity, cutting funding to abortion providers, abstinence-only sexual education and "protections against discrimination" for employers with religious or moral objections to sections of employee health-care plans.

She most recently worked as a giving specialist at Save the Storks, an anti-abortion organization, before returning to Lamborn this month. She handles the congressman's abortion, families, women's issues and education portfolio.
