For MCAT creators, Rep. McNerney aide passes the test

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on April 28, 2017

The country’s medical school gatekeepers are opening the door for Rep. Jerry McNerney’s (D-Calif.) former legislative assistant.

The Association of American Medical Colleges, the organization behind the Medical College Admission Test required for application to U.S. medical schools, hired Tyler Hanson as a legislative analyst this month. Hanson, who holds a health-law focused JD from the Loyola University Chicago, had handled McNerney’s health portfolio since 2015.

The AAMC lobbies on a number of health-related issues, including the Affordable Care Act and funding for public-health programs.
