Sen. Sullivan adds longtime lobbyist as chief

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 11, 2017

Sen. Dan Sullivan's (R-Alaska) new chief of staff is a lobbyist with 30 years experience representing business interests.

Larry Burton most recently lobbied as chief operating officer for the American Council of Life Insurers. He previously held senior-level lobbying jobs with CVS, the Business Roundtable and British Petroleum. The Alaska native, then with CVS, was also a guest at Sullivan's swearing-in party in 2015.

Burton took over Sullivan's chief of staff position from Joe Balash, who awaits a Senate confirmation vote to become Interior Department assistant secretary for land and minerals management.
