Defense contractor nabs Rep. Johnson aide

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Nov. 1, 2017

Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Ohio) has lost a legislative assistant to a subsidiary of one of the world's largest defense contractors.

Ben Leone, who handled Johnson's technology and immigration portfolio, is now a legislative assistant at Leonardo DRS. The defense contractor, whose products include counter-drone and active-protection systems, is a subsidiary of Italian defense and aerospace company Leonardo SpA (formerly Finmeccanica).

Leonardo DRS spends about $850,000 a year to lobby the federal government, not counting its parent company's additional expenses.
