Caught Our Eye

A former counsel under Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) on the Senate Banking Committee is making a smaller annual salary now that she is studying regulation of financial markets at an influential think tank.

Hester Peirce left her $160,000 per year salary at the Senate in December to become a senior research fellow with George Mason's Mercatus Center. The Wall Street Journal once described Mercatus as "the most important think tank you've never heard of" for its role in shaping public policy.

Peirce is earning $140K from Mercatus, according to her financial disclosure.
