A longtime legislative aide for Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) recently went through the revolving door, becoming director of government relations at one of the largest defense contractors in the country.
Adam Paulson spent over 11 years with the Long Island congressman before leaving in May to be director of government relations at General Dynamics, according to his LinkedIn profile. Working his way from staff assistant to legislative director over that span, Paulson aided King as he served as chairman and ranking member of the powerful Homeland Security Committee.
General Dynamics receives numerous contracts from the Department of Homeland Security that the committee oversees. For example, in February, a kerfuffle erupted over a committee hearing on an $11 million DHS contract General Dynamics has to monitor social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
