Information
Organization's Own Description:
The Trustees' Council of Penn Women was originated in 1987. The first group of its kind, TCPW has been a model for other universities nationwide which have subsequently established alumnae committees to address women's issues on their campuses. To date, individual members have given over $210 million for programs and initiatives at Penn. Over the past 25 years, TCPW has achieved the following as an organization:
Members of the Trustees' Council of Penn Women initiated the Celebration of 125 Years of Women at Penn, which took place November 1-2, 2001. During the celebration, the Generational and Women's Walkway, a renovation of the Class of '49 Bridge at 38th Street, was unveiled and a book, Franklin's Daughters, was published. Two years later, in November 2003, artist Jenny Holzer's 125 Years, a curving walkway of text-based sculpture located in Hill Square, was dedicated representing the culmination of the University's celebration of 125 years of women at Penn.
