  • American Vaping Association lobbying Congress amid new FDA regulations

    In a town known for blowing smoke, an association is taking a different approach with its lobbying. The American Vaping Association has filed its first federal lobbying disclosure in the wake of recent Food and Drug Administration regulations.
    In May, the FDA rolled out regulations that would require e-cigarette manufacturers to demonstrate their products' safety and submit to an expensive approval process. The rules are set to go into effect Aug. 8. read more
  • Rep. Wasserman Schultz holds first Zika town hall

    Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) has become the first to hold a town hall for constituents specifically focused on the Zika virus. Zika can be transmitted by mosquitos or through sexual contact and can cause birth defects. The mosquitos carrying the virus have been found throughout the Carribean and Central America and visitors to those countries have returned to the U.S. with the virus. read more
