Information
Organization's Own Description:
CHWC stabilizes, revitalizes and reinvests in our neighborhoods through improved housing and other quality of life improvements. We provide individuals and families the opportunity to achieve the “American Dream” by providing high quality, affordable housing choices, because it is our belief everyone should have a chance to own their own home.
Building and rehabbing homes is just a part of CHWC’s mission, however. We strive to be a “one-stop-shop” for new homeowners. We offer complimentary homebuyer education, downpayment assistance, and many other helpful resources.
CHWC traces its roots to a social welfare outreach of the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas created in 1998 entitled Catholic Housing of Wyandotte County. In 2002, Catholic Housing merged with Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Kansas to become CHWC; thereby expanding its service territories and expanding its reach in the community.
CHWC focuses our work on seven urban core neighborhoods of Kansas City, KS. However, when invited, CHWC works in other Wyandotte County neighborhoods. We also provide housing services and resources to all Wyandotte County residents such as Homebuyer Education, Counseling and Minor Home Repair services.
