Profile Photos FAQs

Who can see my photo on LegiStorm?

Only LegiStorm Pro Premium subscribers have full access to profiles photos. A specific photo may be visible under limited circumstances to the public, as we adhere to Google's first click free policy. We have blocked Google Image Search and other bots from collecting photos from our site as of 2021.

How do I remove a photo that appears on my LegiStorm profile?

The best way to remove a particular photo is to submit a better photo to LegiStorm. While this can be done by emailing congress@legistorm.com, the ideal way is to claim your page. After we verify your identity, you may submit photo changes and other edits to us so that we provide you with the most accurate, complete and professional appearance possible.

If you do not want to claim your page, you might be able to have the photo removed from our site by taking down the photo from its original site. Most of the photos that appear on LegiStorm are not hosted on our site but instead link to other websites, include social media websites. Changing your privacy settings on your social media website profile may remove the photo from appearing on LegiStorm. To determine which site is hosting a photo, you can hover your mouse over the photo on LegiStorm to see the photo’s original URL. Users who claim their own page also will be able to see the photo’s URL, which will identify its original host site.

How do I replace a photo that appears on my profile with a different photo?

You should claim your page to supply a replacement photo to LegiStorm. The replacement photo must conform to LegiStorm’s photo standards, detailed below. Profile Photos Standards All photos that are provided on LegiStorm’s website must meet specific photo standards. Photos must be business appropriate and only recognizably contain the person on whose profile page it shows. Photos may not:

  • Be inappropriate for business – for example, no beach or suggestive attire, no alcoholic beverages in hand, no costumes or funny hats, no unprofessional facial expressions.
  • Contain more than one recognizable person. A photo submitted by a staffer will be rejected if another person also appears in the photo; for example, a staffer with the president or a child. Unrecognizable people in a background are allowed, but not preferred.
  • Contain pets or other animals. We love pets – in fact, our office is dog-friendly – but we don’t feel they are appropriate for professional profile photos on our website.
  • Be unrecognizable – for example, no photos shot from a long distance or from a long time ago, such as a high school graduation portrait.
  • Be so small or of such poor quality as to be rendered essentially useless. Although we don’t have specific minimum requirements for file size or pixels, photos should be large enough and clear enough that the staffer photographed is easily recognizable. The best photo to submit to LegiStorm would be a recent head-and-shoulders, professional-type photo with a simple background.
