Klobuchar hires trade, agriculture lobbyist as legislative assistant

Posted by Jenna Ebersole on July 21, 2015

Sen. Amy Klobuchar's (D-Minn.) legislative team has added a new staffer to cover agriculture and food who worked as a lobbyist on similar issues.

Anne Knapke registered to lobby for Cargill Inc. between 2011 and 2012 after working as a fellow at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Congressional Relations during college at Ohio State University and at the Ohio Department of Agriculture. She also has experience with the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere Inc. and Feeding America over the last few years while in graduate school at the University of Chicago.

She came to the Hill this month for Klobuchar as legislative assistant after earning a master's in poverty and inequality and in development economics and social welfare policy.

Klobuchar has employed more revolving door staffers than anyone else in the Minnesota delegation, with 18 according to LegiStorm tracking since 2000. Her chief of staff Lizzy Peluso, who is on leave, is the other former registered lobbyist currently on staff.
