New Senate staffer founded Jeb Bush PAC for millennials

Posted by Steve Shapiro on Nov. 10, 2015

Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) is still in the race for the White House, but one enthusiastic supporter has left his pro-Bush PAC for a Senate staff position.

Lucas Agnew joined the Senate last month after founding the Millennials Rising PAC to support Bush's 2016 presidential campaign. The PAC, of which Agnew also served as executive director, aims to gain Bush support from younger voters on issues from job creation to immigration reform, according to the PAC's website. Agnew left the PAC in October to take a position under Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Cochran endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008 and Gov. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.) in 2012, but has so far been mum on the crowded 2016 field.

Agnew has been involved in politics his entire career. Before joining Cochran, Agnew served two internships on the House Natural Resources Committee under former Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) He also worked as a campaign intern for Bill Driscoll's congressional campaign and Rob McKenna's gubernatorial campaign, both in Washington State.
