Kline staffer leaves office, begins new mission with defense contractor

Posted by Steve Shapiro on Nov. 12, 2015

Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.) has lost one of his entrenched staffers to defense contractor DRS Technologies.

Ryan Silverberg left Kline's office this month after nearly five-and-a-half years with the congressman. He joined in mid-2010 as a military legislative assistant and became a senior legislative associate two years later. Silverberg's new position with DRS is director of legislative affairs.

Silverberg joined Kline after serving as a logistics officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and continued on as a company commander in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve until early 2014.

Kline, a former marine himself, sits on the Military Personnel Subcommittee and the Intelligence, Emerging Threat and Capabilities Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.
