Pandora hopes Judiciary Committee meeting sings

Posted by Sean Myers on March 2, 2016

A major player in the music streaming industry recently brought staff members of the House Judiciary Committee to its New York City office to discuss the evolving music business.

Pandora Media, the company that runs the popular Internet radio station Pandora, invited 64 Hill staffers — mostly staffers of Judiciary Committee members — for a day-long symposium on a variety of legal issues. One of the talking points was the level of interactivity that users have with their individual Pandora station but how Pandora should continue to be defined as a "non-interactive" music streaming service under U.S. copyright laws.

The trip also included talks about such proposed legislation as the Songwriter Equity Act and the Fair Play, Fair Pay Act.
