Former Schrader staffer helping Keep Portland Weird

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on July 7, 2016

James Adkins has left Capitol Hill to practice government affairs in the land of urban homesteading, upcycling and craft beer that's better than your city's craft beer: The former legislative staffer has returned to Portland to work as a government and political relations coordinator for the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland.

In addition to representing the metro area's construction and housing industry, the trade association also manages programs across the city, including the "NW Natural Street of Dreams" and "the Tour of Remodeled Homes."

Adkins had worked for Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) since 2012, most recently as a legislative aide. He also previously worked as a field organizer for the Oregon Democratic Coordinated Campaign.

The Salem, Ore. native attended the University of Oregon, where he obtained a BA degree in political science and studied abroad in Amman, Jordan.
