Energy and Commerce adviser heads to DoD

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Feb. 27, 2018

A longtime House aide with experience on K Street and the White House has landed at the Pentagon.

Ann Thomas "AT" Johnston is now the Defense Department's deputy assistant secretary of military community and family policy. She most recently worked under Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) as a senior policy adviser and professional staff member to the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Before coming to the Hill in 2011, Johnston held positions as deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Energy, special assistant to President George W. Bush and lobbyist at Capitol Hill Consultant Group and the now-defunct International Government Relations Group. She is also the author of "Grow Healthy Little One," a children's book about nutrition and exercise.
