Is MLK Jr. helping Somalia?

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on April 27, 2018

Is Martin Luther King Jr. helping a company that says it is working for a Somalian state? That's what the company Independent Intelligence Agency LLC indicates.

The Independent Intelligence Agency, which does business as SAACS, claims that President Ahmed Duale Gelle of Somalia's autonomous Galmudug State awarded the company a contract last May to provide "services for humanitarian and infrastructural development in the region," according to a Justice Department filing released this week. But, notes the form, "at no time has any compensation, monetary or otherwise, been paid or awarded to" the firm.

The website for the "intelligence and logistics" lists several deceased historical figures, including Martin Luther King Jr. and German philosopher Walter Benjamin, as members of its team. The FARA filing does not provide evidence that the Florida-based firm actually has a contract with the Somalian government.

IIA chief operating officer Reynaldo Santana, who was born in Cuba and now resides in Miami, is the only name disclosed on the filing. Marissa Santana, a woman who appears to be Reynaldo's wife, is the company managing member, or main owner.
