Qatar signs 23rd foreign agent since last year

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on June 11, 2018

Qatar kicked off June by hiring yet another foreign agent, bringing its number of new foreign principals to 23 since its diplomatic crisis began last year.

The Gulf State's newest contract is with Blueprint Advisors, a firm with ties to Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor now working as an attorney to President Donald Trump. Blueprint foreign agents so far include Tony Carbonetti, former chief of staff to then-New York City Mayor Giuliani and co-founder of Giuliani Partners, and Chris Henick, a former Giuliani Partners consultant and senior advisor to Giuliani's 2007 presidential committee.

The Blueprint filing comes just days law firm after Debevoise & Plimpton disclosed that former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey would be among its team helping to resolve Qatar's diplomatic dispute.

Since last June, Qatar has suffered an ongoing diplomatic crisis, with Saudi Arabia leading a coalition of Middle Eastern countries who have cut off ties with the Gulf state. In 2018, Qatar has signed nine foreign agents, including Venable, Ballard Partners and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
