Casino-industry group wins big with House hire

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Feb. 10, 2020

A Democratic aide is placing his bets on the casino industry.

RaShawn Mitchell is now senior director of government relations at the American Gambling Association, a trade group that disclosed $1.9 million on federal lobbying last year. He was most recently deputy chief of staff to Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-S.C.).

Before joining Cunningham's office a year ago, Mitchell zig zagged between the private and public sectors. He's held positions with the National Wildlife Federation, U.S. Department of Energy, Natural Resources Defense Council, Office of Management and Budget, NASA and former Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.).
