Sen. Menendez hires a transit expert and lobbyist

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Oct. 7, 2013

A former House committee staffer has returned to the Capitol after working for a major lobbying firm for the past two years.

Jackie Schmitz recently departed Van Scoyoc Associates as a director of government relations to become the new energy, environmental protection and transportation legislative assistant for Sen. Bob Menéndez (D-N.J.). During her tenure as a lobbyist, she helped more than two dozen clients receive federal funding for various infrastructure projects. Those clients included the National Asphalt Pavement Association, FedEx Corp. and the Washington Metropolitarian Area Transit Authority.

However, her specialization in transportation and infrastructure originated from her time working for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee from 2005 to 2011.
